Western Michigan Whitecaps

There is still plenty of time to get to the LMCU ballpark as the Whitecaps have 3 homestands left. This Friday is Pirate Night and there will be a fire eater at the ballpark. This Saturday, there will be fireworks after the match. This Sunday is Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Family Day. Kids can run the basics after the game. The first 1,000 children eat for free.

Air Zoo Free Steam Event

Join the Air Zoo for their last Steam Saturday of the summer. It’s a day full of fun, hands-on, and science-based experiments. The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will take place outdoors weather permitting. Several local businesses and Air Zoo educators will participate in the event. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

The Danish festival takes place this weekend and continues until Sunday. Admission is free and there are so many family events to attend. On Saturdays there is a Lego building competition, as well as the Meijer Grand Dansk parade. The downtown food court will be open Friday and Saturday, so be sure to try the great Danish food the festival has to offer.

Wag and Wade Dog Swim

The Wag n Wade Dog Swim takes place this Saturday at the Richmond Pool. The event is free and open to all. These are 4 sessions of one hour each which can accommodate up to 200 dogs. Dog poop bags, drinking water for the dogs and tennis balls will be provided. Please bring a leash for your dog, towel, dog life jacket, booties and proof of rabies vaccination. Registrations are required and you can find out more about the event here.


Free Zumba at Roosevelt Park

August 19e 6:15-7:00 p.m.

Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation wants you to get out and move as they bring out their fitness instructor for free Zumba at Roosevelt Park. This is part of their free outdoor fitness series. No registration is required, you can just show up. All fitness levels and ages are welcome.

Art by the River 2022

Art on the Riverfront is a fun day-long event that takes place on the Grand Haven boardwalk. There will be an art competition in which the artists presenting their works will participate. The event is also near the Farmer’s Market, sidewalk sales, and several downtown Grand Haven shops and businesses.

Fridays at the farm

Join our friends at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park for tons of family farm fun! You can work on a quilt project together and complete farm-inspired “chore challenges,” plus farm-inspired stories, games, music, and more! Stop by between 11am and 2pm on Fridays for all the fun – it’s free with admission!

Free Yoga for Kids at Pleasant Park

Saturday morning at 10 a.m., it’s time to get the kids out and get them moving! As part of the Grand Rapids Department of Parks and Recreation’s Free Outdoor Fitness Series, you can attend free yoga classes! Children will use the theme of the week to develop their own yoga postures and flows and it is aimed at children aged 2-10. Just go to Pleasant Park!

Open game at RLM Amusements

Here’s a good one for teens! RLM Amusements is open on Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. For $10 you can walk in the door to play dozens of pinball machines and arcade games all day. Pinball games include Godzilla pro, Avengers Infinity Quest premium and Jurassic Park premium. They also have classic arcade games such as Galaga, Ms Pac-Man, Moon Patrol and Donkey Kong and other games such as NFL Blitz ’99, Big Buck Hunter Pro, Fast and The Furious, foosball and an air hockey table.
