A Buc’s Back to School Survival Guide

With the fall semester fast approaching, here are some tips for new and returning students that are sure to make the first week back on campus as smooth and stress-free as possible.

For students who can drive to school, Mariah Rasnake of Parking Services has tips for avoiding busy parking areas on campus.

“Usually the indoor parking lots on campus fill up the fastest. The best bet for finding quick parking the first week is to go to Lot 22, Lot 9 or one of the parking lots,” Rasnake said.

Students can also use the parking map in the ETSU mobile app to see how many spaces are available in lots located on campus.

When it’s time to grab a bite for lunch, Alex Snapp of Food Services says the busiest time for on-campus food services is from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

“If you want to miss the crowds,” Snapp said, “try having an early or late lunch for a quick dining experience.”

Additionally, for students looking for a quick breakfast in the morning, Treehouse Takeout will be adding new sandwiches and wraps to their breakfast menu to make it more convenient for students looking for a quick meal on the go. .

For many students, finding a way to unwind after class can be a difficult task. After all, it’s easy to get overwhelmed as a student.

Christina Morton, a nurse practitioner at ETSU University Health Center, has a suggestion for students looking for activities to help them relax.

“General exercise is very important for physical and mental health,” Morton said. “Students are encouraged to use the on-campus Physical Activity Center, which offers free group yoga and cardio fitness classes.”

Exercising daily at CPA isn’t just a great way to relax and recharge after a long day at school, but Morton also adds that “it’s a great way to meet new people,” for kids. freshmen and new students looking to socialize on campus. .

With the first day of class less than a week away, I hope these tips will help you navigate your first few days of the new semester and remind you of the most important back-to-school tip, “Godspeed and Go Bucs!”
