AEW Beach Break 2022 Guide: Match Card, Predictions

There is still more than a month to go AEWis the next PPV. To make this long gap feel full, the promotion is staging a number of special edition Dynamite. Next up is Beach Break, which seems a bit odd considering it’s the coldest time of year in many parts of the world. This is the second time AEW has used the name, holding the event at a similar time of year in 2021. Although it hasn’t been used before, Beach Break is technically a revived PPV name. AEW initially called it Bash At The Beach, after the WCW show of the same name. However, he sacrificed that brand to WWE in exchange for the right to the Cody Rhodes name.

Cody Rhodes vs. Sammy Guevara in a ladder match for the TNT Unified Championship

Cody Rhodes won the TNT Championship just before Christmas, becoming the first wrestler in AEW history to hold the title three times. However, when Sammy Guevara returned for his rematch, Rhodes was out of action as he needed to isolate himself. The solution was to crown an interim TNT champion, and Guevara won that match. Now that Rhodes is back, there can only be one TNT champion, and that will be resolved at Beach Break.

The two champions will square off in a ladder match at Beach Break, with their respective TNT titles hanging above the ring. It doesn’t seem likely that Guevara will regain the title so soon after losing it, so Rhodes seems the likeliest winner in this one. Get everything AEW had planned for him back on track after the speed bump that was his brief hiatus.

Adam Cole vs. Orange Cassidy in a lights out match

by AEW

Despite what some fans seem to think, Adam Cole has been doing pretty well since signing with AEW. Won many matches, reunited with friends, and is currently at the top of the company’s men’s rankings. Before he’s presumably focused on winning a title, he has to deal with Orange Cassidy. Someone who has been a thorn in his side since becoming All Elite.

The winner of this one ultimately depends on what AEW has planned next for Cole. If they don’t want him to challenge for a title just yet, a loss to Cassidy might be a good idea. One way to knock him off the charts for now. It would be a shame to see his unbeaten status, in singles competition, go up in smoke, so Cole to win this one.

Chris Jericho and Santana & Ortiz against Daniel Garcia and 2point0

You’d be forgiven for thinking The Inner Circle wasn’t a thing yet. It is because it is not. The group crosses paths from time to time, as they did before the announcement of this match. Chris Jericho was backstage with Santana & Ortiz when the team accused The Champion of holding them back. This could mean that when the three team up at Beach Break, it will be for the very last time.

With that in mind, which team of three will win this one seems a bit obvious. The cracks between Jericho and Santana & Ortiz are evident now, and there’s a good chance the former will lose the trio this game, confirming the latter pair’s belief that he’s the reason they haven’t yet. won tag team gold at AEW.

Red Velvet vs. Leyla Hirsch

The Women’s Division has long been one of the areas where AEW needs to improve the most, and it continues to do so every week. Britt Baker has become one of the most valuable wrestlers in the business since winning the women’s title, and Jade Cargill is leading a different kind of charge as TBS champion. What these two women need are challengers, and that’s where Red Velvet and Leyla Hirsch come in.

Two wrestlers who haven’t been in the spotlight since signing with AEW, but who will both get the chance to show what they’re made of next week at Beach Break. A one-on-one match with nothing tangible at stake, just the chance to pick up a win and move up the leaderboard. Hirsch to win this one in what will hopefully be the first step in her becoming a bigger AEW player.
