Beginning of the reconstruction of Miller Road – Press and guide

Reconstruction of Miller Road, from Rotunda Drive south to Dix Avenue, began April 6 in Dearborn.

Overall, the project will replace over a mile of concrete in each direction on the split road, expected to be completed by the fall.

New driveways, improvements to curb ramps, signage and permanent pavement markings are also part of the project.

Initial work will include daily intermediate lane closures along SB Miller Road. This will be necessary to install protective measures against soil erosion and video recording of storm sewers.

Once the initial work is complete, major reconstruction of Miller Road will begin. As Miller Road is a two-lane roadway in each direction on this section of the roadway, one existing lane will be closed to traffic and traffic will be diverted to the other lane during each construction phase.

Eagle Pass will be closed for the duration of most of this project’s reconstruction with the detour route using northbound Wyoming to westbound Michigan Avenue to southbound Miller Road.

Detour signs will be in place during this closure to direct traffic.

Intermediate full-width or partial-width closures will be required at driveway openings to accommodate new driveways. Coordination with driveway owners will be through Wayne County and the contractor team.

Reduced speeds and load restrictions may be displayed. Flaggers will be present as needed
