Football betting: complete guide 1×2

This guide will help you understand betting odds if you have already read our beginner’s guide to betting on Juventus matches.

In the 1×2 betting system, you can bet on three base selections. Take the example of Juventus.

Selection 1: hosts. Juve will be the “1” team of the 1×2 when they play in Turin.
Match Draw, the ‘X’ selection: always the same, odds for a tie.
Selection 2: Visitors, i.e. Juve away from Turin or visitors playing against them in Turin.

1×2 Football Betting Odds Examples:

In the Torino derby earlier today when Juventus won against Torino, these were the average odds available before kick-off.

‘1’ Torino win: 3.07
Draw ‘X’: 3.01
Juventus win: 2.64

Odds are proportional to the perceived likelihood of a football event occurring. In Juve’s last golden years, the bianconeri’s odds of winning against Torino were well below 2.64.

But Juventus are having a bad time and lost in Israel to Maccabi Haifa in the middle of the week. They had a 5,200 mile round trip to play in Israel among other issues.

But Juventus won as the final score was 0-1. Juve were the ‘2’ selection as Torino were the hosts and the match was played at the Stadio Olimpico.

Thus, bettors who bet for example $100 in odds ‘2’ received $264 as a prize.

1X2 Live Betting Markets

If you don’t feel like betting on a team before kick-off, you can bet live. Race betting is highly recommended and is used by professional bettors. The risk is considerably lower because you can be sure of so many things, for example, if one or more key players who have not been confirmed in the starting XI could heal in time for the match, you can confirm the conditions weather and even analyze the performance of the teams in the first minutes.

You can usually bet until around 1987, but if you expect a lot of extra time, you can bet even after that time.

If goals are scored, you can always bet on the 1×2 market. Unlike Asian Handicap live betting, the traditional 1×2 live betting market only considers the full time score.

So, for example, after Juventus scored the only goal of the game in ’74, the odds for selection ‘2’ were still available but fell massively, as the probability of Juventus winning the game was much greater after the goal has been scored.

If Torino had scored in the following minutes, the live odds would return to a similar size to what they were before the goal. Odds will fluctuate based on various factors including the passage of time during play, movements in the betting market i.e. bets placed by the community, red cards, substitutions, weather etc. .
