New signs in county parks will guide the way to learning

The Lake County Board of County Commissioners will unveil the Born Learning Trail signs donated by United Way of Lake and Sumter Countys at a public ceremony at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7 at Lake Idamere Park, located at 12335 County Road 448 in Tavares. The public is invited to attend.

The Born Learning Trail is a series of nine interactive signs that provide fun and active learning activities for young children and their families. The signs help parents, caregivers and communities create quality engagement opportunities during a walk or visit to a local playground.

“We are very honored to work with Lake County on this valuable initiative. The Born Learning Trail signs and activities will add additional educational opportunities for children, further engage parents, and increase the value of our incredible trail systems,” said Monica Wofford, CEO of United Way of Lake and Sumter Counties. “Lake County leaders have been ideal partners in this process and on behalf of the parents and children United Way is privileged to serve, we are grateful for their efforts.”

Born Learning Trail signs have been installed at five Lake County parks, including Lake Idamere Park, Minneola Sports Complex, PEAR Recreation Area, North Lake Regional Park, and East Sports and Community Complex. Lake.
