Newbury 3.30 runners

Again for luck

Coach: Ismail Mohammed Jockey: Rob Hornby Age: 2 lester: 9st 4lbs To draw: 6

The colt from Kodiac who built on the promise of his debut opened his account at Ffos Las 11 days ago. Didn’t have much to spare, however, and lacked the reach of some of these rivals.

**

miami girl

Coach: Richard Hannon Jockey: Rossa Ryan Age: 2 lester: 9st 3lbs To draw: 16

Impressive first win at Newmarket and, having had an apology at a listed company next time, was firmly back on track at Windsor 3 weeks ago. Remains with potential and an ideal tri for this race.

****

fast active

Coach: Richard Hannon Jockey: Pat Dobbs Age: 2 lester: 9st 3lbs To draw: 1

Debut promise confirmed when easily out of place at Windsor last time out and the stable has a good record in that race so deserves respect even with a little to find.

***

Eddie’s Boy

Coach: Archie Watson Jockey: Hollie Doyle Age: 2 lester: 9st 2lbs To draw: 21

Southwell’s first goalscorer who first took his form a notch in the cheeks when he was third of 24 against Little Big Bear in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot. Solid third in the listed event at Sandown since, so likely to be there.

***

Augustine

Coach:Robert Cowell Jockey:Jim Crowley Age: 2 lester: 9st 1lbs To draw: 2

Just modest form so far, although he is bred to do better at some point, he is not a player in that area.

*

Safari Dream

Coach:Rod Millman Jockey:Ross Coakley Age: 2 lester: 9st 0lbs To draw: 20

Nice looker who has been better than the result of both starts to date, running into trouble behind Swift Asset at Windsor last time out. Not completely discounted for all there is to find.

**

Michaela’s Boy

Coach: Richard Hughes Jockey: George Roke Age: 2 lester: 8st 13lbs To draw: 13

Winning debut at Windsor in April. The limitations since exhibited, however, and others are more compelling in this competitive event.

**

Clean Armor

Coach: Richard Hannon Jockey: Sean Levey Age: 2 lester: 8st 12lbs To draw: seven

Promising sort that has taken a step forward from its debut when a second narrowly into a young girl in Carlisle last time out. Needs to be improved a lot to be competitive in this area.

**

Not for profit

Coach: David O’Meara Jockey: Tom Marquand Age: 2 lester: 8st 12lbs To draw: 3

Has taken a step forward since his debut when a rookie landed in Hamilton from the front a month ago. Potential for even better, but that might be a step too far.

**

dare to hope

Coach:Richard Fahey Jockey: Oisin James Orr Age: 2 lester: 8st 11lbs To draw: 19

A promising first winner from the 8-rider novice at Nottingham in April and only just put out a bid to defy a penalty at Ripon a month ago. Could feature with another improved projection.

***

Maria Branwell

Coach: David O’Meara Jockey: Kieran Shoemark Age: 2 lester: 8st 11lbs To draw: 11

Won his first two outings then improved his form to finish an excellent third in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot a month ago. The heavily headed nature of this race should play to its strengths, and it looks like the one to beat.

*****

Finding Lynda

Coach: KR Burke Jockey: Clifford Lee Age: 2 lester: 8st 9lbs To draw: 9

Early promise confirmed in easy 5-runner novice landing at Nottingham (5f, good) in May, but disappointed at York afterwards. Has been granted a break since.

**

rogue spirit

Coach: Tom Clover Jockey:Jack Mitchell Age: 2 lester: 8st 9lbs To draw: 18

The Dark Angel pass who justified his support to make a winning debut at Beverley in May and relied on that when he was caught dying in the conditions event there next time. He easily doubled his total last time around and looks like a major player.

****

In abundance

Coach: Richard Hannon Jockey: David Egan Age: 2 lester: 8st 8lbs To draw: 14

Slight signs of encouragement so far, but lacks the quality to feature there.

*

Run cmc

Coach:Grant Kill Jockey: Theodore Ladd Age: 2 lester: 8st 8lbs To draw: 17

He left his previous form behind when he scored at Musselburgh 17 days ago but is unlikely to be good enough for this level of running.

*

Woolhampton

Coach:Rod Millman Jockey: Trevor Whelan Age: 2 lester: 8st 8lbs To draw: 8

The debut line-up on the left is a distant second when it finished second in an early race in June, but failed to back it up in a novice here last time out. Others are more appealing.

*

asian queen

Coach:Robert Cowell Jockey: Andrea Atzeni Age: 2 lester: 8st 7lbs To draw: 4

The Twilight Son filly who failed to make it into a few rookies at Windsor and looks set for another fight here.

*

desert illusion

Coach: Ismail Mohammed Jockey: Collen Floor Age: 2 lester: 8st 7lbs To draw: ten

Just modest form so far, so it looks way out of its depth.

*

Union Court

Coach: Ed Walker Jockey: David Probert Age: 2 lester: 8st 6lbs To draw: 5

Impressive winner of her first 2 starts, then far from disgraced when she was ninth behind Little Big Bear at Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot a month ago. Can do better still.

***

claretina

Coach:Richard Fahey Jockey: Jimmy Quinn Age: 2 lester: 8st 4lbs To draw: 15

Tied well and already has a win under her belt in Carlisle. Slightly better than Ripon’s result last time but it requires a clear step forward.

**

summer land

Coach: Richard Hannon Jockey: Hayley Turner Age: 2 lester: 8st 4lbs To draw: 12

Cheap buy that took the hit late enough to get off to a winning start at Brighton (5.2f) in late April. Ran at a similar level in defeat under a penalty at Kempton but out of depth at Albany last time out.

**

Newbury 3.30 tips

form of time: MARIA BRANWELL’s third in the Queen Mary is the best form of the show and further improvement cannot be ruled out in this friendly filly, so she gets the marginal vote ahead of Rogue Spirit, whose penultimate outing (when she was second at Beverley) is proving to be a very solid form. Miami Girl deserves a lot of respect as the choice of the contingent formed by Richard Hannon.
